Post-Production Process
The post production process at Eurofox Pictures starts taking place through the shooting schedule. At all stages Stephen directs one step ahead and the there are no clear lines drawn between the production stages. The post production process is very time consuming and can be slow moving. At this point most of the materials are gathered, but must be very delicately and expertly put together and blended. As Stephen begins editing what he can very early on through the production, much of the skeleton is already in place before even filming has been completed. In artistic terms, with the outline drawn this is the time for the painting. From visual effects, sound effects and music to enhanced editing, texturing, colour and more, the final result is excitingly close at hand.
Though research is a big part of pre production, it is an ongoing process throughout. Right up to the final stages of editing new materials can be discovered and though production is at a late stage, nothing worth including is ever discarded. There are no compromises until the very final deadline. In the case of Eurofox’s feature docu-movie “Dracula’s Stoker” this was a regular occurrence with historical facts, photographs, texts, art, voice recordings and even old time radio recordings being discovered. Stephen never draws a time line for research to come to an end. Sometimes the best gems do not surface till near the final stages of production, but can bring a lot to the project. As with all productions, discovering great material is only half the battle, the other half is requiring permission to use them. We have been delighted to collaborate with so many composers, artists, designers, galleries and archives etc., all of whom were extremely pleased to be on board. Other fundamental collaborations include Getty Images, Warner Bros and Universal.
Pre production sometimes can throw the entire crew back into a shoot schedule. It is at this time entire scenes may be re-shot should Stephen envision a better outcome or should other facilities / locations become available at that time. Though “Dracula’s Stoker” is completed and set for premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2009, new shots, music, sound effects and even newly written scenes continue to be added to or replace sections of the current cut. Until the final deadline of handing over, Stephen continues to seek out room for improvement though pre production of the next project has begun. His high energy, multi-tasking and no compromise approach along with complete independence in terms of facilities and ‘hands on’ proficiency in all areas has made Eurofox Pictures a ground breaking film production company of the highest standard. So much so, much of his requirements in terms of facilities, camera, accessories, Blu-ray burning etc. had to be ordered and shipped from outside of Europe at the time he requested them. This pattern continues as Eurofox Pictures pushes forward and expands with a CEO one step ahead at all times. Exciting co-productions with Rio Grande Studios in New Mexico, USA are now in motion.
